Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge Review

Now that I'm done with our honeymoon recaps, I wanted to do a quick review of our hotel, Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge.

As I mentioned before, Animal Kingdom Lodge is a deluxe resort. We splurged because it was our honeymoon and we were lucky to get a PIN code that took 40% off the rack room rate. Disney randomly sends out the PIN codes and I had rarely received one prior to planning our honeymoon. Now, I seem to get them all the time. Too bad we aren't planning a trip!

On a previous trip to Walt Disney World 5 years prior, I had checked out the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I had seen the lobby, the pool, and the savanna. I knew then that I wanted to stay there sometime. My husband was sold on it when I showed him the savannas.

I booked a standard savanna view room because if I was staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, I wanted animals outside my room!



And with views like this, I was glad we splurged! I loved sitting on our balcony each morning while eating breakfast and putting on my sunscreen for the day. It was also nice to sit out there in the afternoon reading a book and relaxing.

I've shown you the amazing views, but what does the room look like?



I've raved about Disney's attention to themes and details before and the room was no exception.



I wanted most of the furniture and decor for our vintage safari themed living room.

I didn't get a picture of the other part of the bathroom, but it was your basic shower and toilet.



Here's a close-up of the wallpaper in the sink area. Again, I wanted some for my own home.

Overall, the room was great. It was very comfortable and spacious. I had no problems with our room.

The amenities of the Animal Kingdom Lodge are also great. The pool is nice, the dining options include a quick service food court, a buffet restaurant, and a table service restaurant. There is also a lounge and a wine bar. Although we didn't check it out, there's also a massage and fitness center. There are also various activities throughout the day for children and families.

Would we stay there again? Absolutely! In fact, I'm pretty sure the Animal Kingdom Lodge has spoiled me for all other resorts. I never want to stay anywhere else. I highly recommend the Animal Kingdom Lodge!

Doctor Who's Day: Favorite Alien

Today's Doctor Who's Day topic is favorite alien. I decided not to take the easy way out and say that Time Lords are my favorite, even though they are. Instead, I decided to think about all the other aliens that the Doctor and his companions have encountered along the way.

And it's been A LOT. Some I really don't like. Some are funny. Some, like the Adipose, are cute.

Madame Vastra! She's a Slurian. Slurians are Earth reptiles who used to be the rulers of Earth. Years ago, they hibernated below the surface, but their technology had a fault and never woke them up. Now they are often found when digging or mining occurs.

Madame Vastra lives in the Victorian time period. She was woken during construction of the London Underground. We first met her during the Series 6 episode, A Good Man Goes to War. During the episode we learned that Madame Vastra was responsible for stopping Jack the Ripper. She has a human companion named Jenny.

Although it was never explained, the Doctor and Madame Vastra already knew each other and Madame Vastra owed the Doctor a favor. So, she and Jenny helped the Doctor at the battle of Demon's Run.

I like Madame Vastra because she was a Victorian crime-fighter. I loved the relationship between her and Jenny. I was one of the many fans who wanted to see a spin-off of Vastra and Jenny. I hope they at least get to come back to Doctor Who sometime.

Weekend Wrap-Up

Since we didn't win anything from the big Mega Millions, I'm still here and not jetting off around the world on a dream vacation. Did you play? Win anything?

Although we had a mostly quiet weekend at home, I did manage to do some thinking and come up with some really random ideas.

While watching TV last night, I saw a commercial for the Columbus Zoo. Apparently it was voted the number 1 zoo in America. Also, Jack Hanna was doing the commercial and he's the director emeritus of the zoo. Suddenly, I have to check out this zoo.

Columbus is a 4.5 hour drive from here, which seems a little far to drive for a zoo, but we do love our zoos. I've never been to Columbus, so I started checking out other things to do there and suddenly I was planning a trip there, possibly for our anniversary this year. I've got a couple other ideas for our anniversary, so we'll see which one wins. Probably the cheapest option.

I've also decided that I really need to relearn French. I studied it for 6 years and it's sad how much I've lost. I still have a couple textbooks and workbooks, so I was just going to try to use those. But then I discovered that I can use the Mango Languages program through my local library. And I can even do it right at home. I started with the basics last night and while I do remember everything that was covered, it was a nice refresher. Maybe next, I'll finally learn some Italian!

Since I needed a microphone for the program, my husband finally hooked up a web camera to my computer. Maybe I'll get brave and do some vlogs?

This week is Spring Break, so no work for me. Instead of having a relaxing week at home though, I've decided to do some work. Namely, deep cleaning various rooms of our house. I'm a little embarrassed at how cluttered we've gotten. I'm trying to tackle a room each day. It feels like punishment, but I know I'll be much happier when I see the results.

I love damask, especially when it's in colors other than black and white. Coral is a popular color for spring this year and I think this dress would make a nice outfit for Easter next week.
