Sherlock - Character Most Like Me

Today's Sherlock topic is the character that is most like me.

Honestly, this was really hard for me because I don't really think any of the characters are like me. But, I thought about it and decided Molly is probably most like me.

I'm awkward in social situations and secretly in love with Sherlock too. Plus, I'd do whatever I could to help him as well.

I also covet that cute cardigan she's wearing. It has cherries on it!

Which Sherloc character are you most like?

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Ugh, trying to find a replacement for Google Reader. I was in denial, hoping that Google would change their minds. Idiots.

So far, I've tried Feedly and now Bloglovin. Not sure which one I'll stick with, if either.

Week in Review

Last week wasn't very exciting, so I'll just stick to the highlights again. I like this format for now, but I might go back to the daily stuff in the summer when I'll actually be doing stuff.

I worked three days last week which was pretty good for only have 3 weeks of school left. I could have had four days, but had to take a day off for an appointment.

The appointment? I had to take a drug test for my summer job. I've never had to do a drug test before. I drank a ton of water before my appointment and then they made me sit in the waiting room for half an hour. Torture!

Since I had the day off and M had the day off, we had a movie date after my test. We went to see Star Trek Into Darkness. It was good! Of course, I highly enjoyed Benedict Cumberbatch's performance.

Sunday, we got together my in-laws to celebrate Memorial Day a little early. I learned how to play Risk, we had fun, and lots of yummy food.

Sunday Social - Summer

Sunday Social

What is your best summer memory as a kid?

The fair! Out county fair is awesome and I frequently spent most of the week out there when I was a kid/teen. I loved being able to explore everything over the week and of course, eat a bunch of awesome fair food! I still love going to the fair now even though I can usually only go once during the week.

What is your favorite summer drink?

Lemonade! Especially the lemonade from Chick-fil-a. I'm going to have to stock up on lemons this year and make my own.

What is your favorite summer TV show?

We only watch a few shows during the regular season and during the summer we don't watch any shows. We love having Netflix Instant Watch and borrowing DVDs from the library.

However, I am looking forward to watching Whose Line is It Anyway? this summer. And hello, Arrested Development released today!

What is the best outdoor summer activity?

I don't do hot weather very well, so I try to spend as much of the summmer as possible inside. I'm sure my new summer job will change that though.

If I have to be outside in the heat, I like to be at the county fair or the local flea market or visiting a zoo.

What are your summer vacation essentials?

A Vera Bradley Hipster, my camera, books to read, sunglasses, and sunscreen!

It's OK Thursday

Today is the very last It's OK Thursday ever, so I thought I better join up one last time!

Its Ok Thursdays
It's OK...

That I had to take the day off work for an appointment, so I turned it into an excuse to have a movie date with my husband.

That I'm counting down the days until school is out. 9 more school days!

That I'm really excited about my summer job even though I don't know much about it yet.

To be excited about going to the flea market on Memorial Day

To feel good about my skills when my students are quieter in the hallways than the classes with their regular teachers.

To eat ice cream every night. Hey, it was 90 degrees the other day...that requires ice cream!

To get really excited when your request for the new Justin Timberlake CD at the library comes through. The librarian was amused at how excited I was to pick it up.

To be too cheap to buy music, so you borrow CDs from the library.

What's OK with you this week?

Sherlock - Cry

Today's Sherlock topic is a moment that made you cry.

I don't think I actually cried when this happened, but it was the closest I've come to crying during an episode of Sherlock and watching it again definitely makes me sad.

I really cannot wait for this show to come back.

Week in Review

I'm horribly late getting to this, so I'll skip the day-by-day format and just give you a general look at my week.

It was a great week for work. I ended up working full days every day last week. And the classes were all pretty good. Some better than others, but that's how it usually goes. Only 3 weeks of school left!

The weather has been warming up and now approaching ridiculously warm for the time of year.

I watched the Doctor Who finale on Saturday night. It was amazing! I'm really looking forward to the Anniversary Special and I'm already theorizing the newest mystery.

Sunday Social

What is your favorite kind of surprise?

I'm not a huge fan of big surprises. I like surprise gifts for no reason and birthday and Christmas gifts I didn't have to pick out for myself.

Flowers or chocolate?

Um, both? I like both, but prefer chocolates. I certainly wouldn't say no to a bouquet of peonies though!

What is your favorite summertime activity?

Going to the local zoos and the flea market.

Do you have any vacations planned this summer?

My summer job starts the week after school gets out and goes for six weeks, so most of summer will be busy. I'd like to make a trip up to Minnesota to see a certain someone and her adorable baby, but that won't be able to happen until early August and that depends on the full-time job situation.

Favorite summer holiday?

The 4th of July - I love cookouts and fireworks and being patriotic.

What is your dream vacation?

Right now - a cruise to Alaska or a trip to the UK.

Sherlock - Squeal!

Today's Sherlock topic is a moment that made you squeal.

Well, I frequently do little squeals and sighs when watching anything involving Benedict Cumberbatch. Especially when it's the first episode of a new series of Sherlock and Sherlock appears for the first time. However, I did remember one specific scene that definitely called for both squealing and sighing.

Shirtless Sherlock is always a treat!

Week In Review

 Monday

I'm only the sub, but I'm ready for school to be over with for the summer. I can only imagine how the everyday teachers feel. I taught kindergarten on Monday and it wasn't the greatest day ever, but it didn't totally suck either. We used a lot of music and the Smart Board, so that was fun.

After work, I went on a hunt for plants. I was pricing hydrangeas and trying to find a couple plants to replace some that didn't make it through last year's drought and heat wave. I ended up finding my double impatient and a pretty dahlia at Meijer.

Tuesday

I only had to work in the afternoon which is great because I get to sleep in and get some more time to get ready. I taught second grade for a good class.

That night I decided I really needed to bake brownies which was a good idea because they tasted really good. I managed to not eat the whole pan in one night, but it was close.

Wednesday

My husband made me eggs and bacon for breakfast for work. It was great other than discovering our fridge was broken again. Luckily, the freezer still worked this time. Another afternoon job, another second grade class. This time for a class I've had several times this year already. Did the weekly trip to the library after work.

Thursday

I didn't work which was a good thing because I stayed up way too late watching The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I couldn't stop because I wanted to see Lizzie and Darcy get together. I'm such a sucker for Pride & Prejudice. I also took advantage of the broken fridge and deep cleaned the inside of it while the food was all out.

Friday

I had to teach fourth grade which isn't my favorite. After work, I did my weekly trip to Target and what seems to be a weekly trip to my husband's store. I'm really excited about Target's new Cartwheel program. I love that they're making it easier to get even more savings.

Saturday

I celebrated Mother's Day with my mom and grandma. We went out for lunch at Olive Garden and then went plant shopping. And I ended up buying more plants. Did I need them? No. Do I have pots for them? No. But I liked them and they were good prices, so they came home with me. I've got some big ideas for our porch now.

We celebrated Mother's Day with M's mom after Mass. I got her a Super Tote at the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale and she really liked it. We also watched Doctor Who. I'm really excited for next week's episode after seeing the previews.

Sunday

We had a lazy day at home. I had to bring in all plants from outside for the night because apparently Mother Nature didn't get the memo about it being spring and there was a freeze warning. But since this is crazy Indiana, it will be 80 degrees again by Wednesday.

Sunday Social - Past & Future

Sunday Social
1 year ago I was doing...

Pretty much exactly what I was doing now, except also stressing about what I was going to do about a summer job.

5 years ago I was doing...

Getting tired of subbing and starting to work my retail job more and more. I had also started dating M.

Please ignore M's awful hair. I convinced him to cut that very quickly.

Also went to several weddings that summer.
10 years ago I was doing...

Finishing up my junior year of college, planning a trip to see Trish in Florida, starting my thesis project, and getting excited about my student teaching placement.

I would insert pictures here, but that was before I had a digital camera.

1 year from now I'll be doing...

God willing, celebrating my first mother's day either as a new mom or a pregnant woman.

5 years from now I'll be doing...

Raising multiple children, teaching full time or being a stay-at-home mom.

10 years from now I'll be doing...

Same as above, but hopefully living in a bigger house in an actual neighborhood in a better school district just in case our kids go to public school after elementary school. (Our Catholic school currently only goes up to 6th grade. The other parish in town goes to 8th grade. There are no Catholic high schools in our county.)

Sherlock - New Season

Today's Sherlock topic is something I'd like to see in the new season (or series as the Brits say.)

Easy!

When Sherlock returns and reveals to John that he's not really dead, I'd like John to punch him in the face and then maybe do a little more punching. Sherlock deserves it. Especially if they stick to canon and it's been three years.

I know in the original story, John faints, but I think this modern John Watson is made of sterner stuff and won't faint. I'd like to see him channel a little rage at Sherlock.

What do you want to see in the new season?

Week In Review

Monday

I didn't work and I didn't leave the house, so I'm sure many exciting things happened.

Tuesday

I had to teach second grade in the afternoon. I had recess duty, but luckily the weather was beautiful and I enjoyed some sunshine while the kids ran around.

I also got to the do the new Vera Bradley survey. Exciting!

Wednesday

I had to teach third grade in the afternoon which led to me watching them take a session of the state mandated test for an hour. Easy, but so boring.

After work, we took our weekly trip to the library. Instead of going to the main branch downtown like we usually do though, we went to a different, smaller branch. Although their DVD selection was much smaller, I was able to score some newer DVDs that are always out at the main branch. Might have to make the trip over there more often.

Thursday

Another day off. Again, I'm sure amazing things happened. I just can't remember any of them. Oh, I know! We weeded the side flower bed. See, exciting!

Friday

I taught first grade for the class of a girl I went to high school with. She left me a note on the lesson plans and called me Jenny. I forget that people outside my family called me that once upon a time. It was a good class and we had a good day.

Saturday

M had to work overnight and I didn't get to watch Doctor Who. We did go to mass and I had to resist the urge to ask the teenager in front of me to sit still for 2 minutes and keep his hands above his waist, if you know what I mean. I asked for hand sanitizer after the sign of peace.

I spent the evening watching/reading The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. I can't believe I just now discovered this!

Sunday

We got to make our somewhat monthly trip to Sam's Club. It was very exciting. We always seem to have a cart full of not so healthy things and then I throw a 10lb bag of oranges in the cart in the end and that makes it OK. To be fair, this time we did get a few non-food items like a mop and razor blades. We like to live on the edge.

I also got to watch Doctor Who. I loved the episode! By far, the best one of the second part of the season. Of course, I'd gladly watch a Madame Vastra, Jenny, and Strax spin-off any day!
