My Favorite Magic Kingdom Snack

Today, I'm sharing my favorite Magic Kingdom Snack for the Disney Park Challenge.

One of the things I love about going to Disney is all the planning. And I absolutely plan what I want to eat.  One thing I always plan on eating when I'm in the Magic Kingdom?

Dole Whip!

Source
Dole Whip is pineapple flavored soft-serve. I like it swirled with vanilla, but just pineapple is good too. Aloha Isle, in Adventureland, sells these along with Dole Whip floats which is Dole Whip in pineapple juice. Yum!

What makes Dole Whip so special is that it's pretty much only available at the Magic Kingdom, The Polynesian Resort, Disney Land, and Hawaii. It's a special treat that I love to enjoy whenever I'm in the Magic Kingdom.

Sunday Social - Thankful

Sunday Social

For this week's Sunday Social, instead of questions, we're talking about what we are thankful for in honor of Thanksgiving.

First of all, I'm thankful for my family and my husband's family. They're so supportive and loving. I'm looking forward to spending the holidays with all of them.

Photobucket

I'm thankful for my best friends who never fail to make me laugh. We've had a lot of great times together and I can't wait for more!

I'm thankful for my job. It may not be the full-time job I want, but it's a lot closer than my previous retail job and I actually enjoy it. I'm very thankful that I won't be working on Black Friday or the crazy hours that are coming in the next month. Sadly, my husband will be, but I'm thankful he has a full-time job that provides insurance and other benefits.

I'm thankful for my husband who puts up with my crazy and just gets me. I love being married to him and I can't wait to see what our future brings.

I'm thankful for our cats.

What are you thankful for this year?

Favorite EPCOT Restaurant

Today's Disney Park Challenge topic is favorite EPCOT restaurant.

Unfortunately, I've never eaten at a table service restaurant at EPCOT.  Someday, I hope to eat a Via Napoli in the Italy pavilion.

However, I do have lots of experience with the quick service options at EPCOT, so I'm going to cheat and tell you about two of my favorites. After all, 2 quick service restaurants equals 1 table service restaurant, right?

These two restaurants are my must eats whenever I'm at EPCOT. Both of my favorites just so happen to be in the World Showcase.

My first favorite is The Lotus Blossom Cafe in China. I LOVE their orange chicken. I never thought I liked Chinese food until while on a trip with my mom, I tried the orange chicken at the Lotus Blossom Cafe. I quickly discovered that I love orange chicken. Over the years, I've tried orange chicken from various Chinese restaurants and none of them have been as good as the Lotus Blossom Cafe.

My other favorite EPCOT restaurant is the Yorkshire County Fish Shop in the UK pavilion. I'm a huge fan of their authentic fish and chips. Seriously, I crave those chips all the time! And the fish, with a little malt vinegar, is fabulous! It doesn't hurt that they're served by cast members with British accents, either.

Week in Review

What a crazy, busy week!

I worked every day last week at the same school. I've been working at that school far more than the others, which will hopefully turn into a good thing when they start hiring for next year.

Three of those days last week were for the same first grade class. They were sweethearts and now whenever they see me at school, they get excited. I'm hoping I get a chance to sub for them again this year.

Over the weekend, I went to my favorite baby's first birthday party. It was monster themed and a lot of fun. His mom and grandma did a great job planning it.

On Sunday, we dealt with the terrible storms that went through the Midwest. I spent the day anxiously watching the local weather channel. We were under a tornado watch and I'm terrified of tornadoes. Give me a hurricane, any day! Thankfully, all we got here was a lot of intense wind and storms for a little bit. Our only damage was some small branches in the yard from our walnut tree. We are very thankful!

Now, I'm looking forward to some time off next week and planning some good food to eat at Thanksgiving.

How was your week?

My Favorite Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom

Today's Disney Park topic is favorite restaurant in the Magic Kingdom. For this particular question, I am considering restaurant to refer to establishments where you are waited on or as Disney calls them, table service.

I've been lucky enough to have a couple meals at Magic Kingdom restaurants. Picking my favorite was fairly easy.

For our honeymoon, I scored a breakfast reservation for The Crystal Palace that got us into the park before it opened. It was great to walk down a nearly empty Main Street USA and get some pictures of the castle without the crazy summer crowds.

Breakfast at The Crystal Palace is also great because the food is so good! It's a buffet and there are lots of choices. I found plenty of things to eat and even my picky husband found lots of things he liked. My favorite food at The Crystal Palace is called Pooh's Puffed French Toast. It's technically on the children's section of the buffet, but I just had to try it. I was delighted to find that it tasted a lot like an elephant ear. I definitely went back for seconds of that!

Another reason I like The Crystal Palace? It's a character meal. We got to enjoy a good meal and meet some characters without having to stand in line.

I loved our meal at The Crystal Palace so much, it's our new Disney tradition. We must have breakfast there on every trip from now on!

Sunday Social - Thanksgiving

Favorite Thanksgiving Memory

I think my favorite is when I was living in Florida and couldn't go home for Thanksgiving. I actually cooked a turkey breast and some of the fixings and my brother came over from his college in Daytona and we had Thanksgiving together. It was nice to be with family even though we were several states away from the rest of our family.

Favorite Thanksgiving Food

Um, everything? I love Thanksgiving. I am really looking forward to the deep fried turkey my brother does though. It's the best turkey I've ever had!

What is a Thanksgiving Tradition you and your family have?

Our only tradition is that we get together. M and I are kind of starting one where we do Thanksgiving with my family on Thursday and then his family on Friday after he works his 12 hour Black Friday shift.

Show us a favorite Thanksgiving picture(or 5) from years past

My childhood pictures are still at my mom's house and we don't really take pictures on Thanksgiving. We tend to take a bunch of pictures at Christmas. I do have these pictures that M and I took the last couple years for our Christmas cards...

Favorite Animal Kingdom Ride

Today's Disney Park Challenge is about my favorite Animal Kingdom Ride. This is an easy one for me because while I love just about all of the Animal Kingdom park, there's one ride I always ride multiple times.

Safari Savanna photo IMG_2062.jpg

I try to ride Kilimanjaro Safaris as much as possible every time I go to the Animal Kingdom. I like to space out my rides over the day for the best chance at seeing as many animals as possible.

Why do I love Kilimanjaro Safaris so much? It's a fabulous way to see so many animals in a more natural setting. And being Disney, the theming is amazing. It's easy to pretend you are actually in Africa on safari here.

Week in Review

Since we just had our 3 day Fall Break, last week was fairly quiet work-wise.  (I can't believe we've been back from Minnesota for over a week now!)

I did manage to pick up 3 days of work, all of them half days. So far, November is pretty wide open in my schedule, but I'm hopeful that it will quickly fill up with more jobs.

Since we don't have kids, we didn't do Halloween. Trick-or-Treating doesn't seem to really happen on our street, so I don't worry about buying candy and passing it out. Plus, we take advantage of the vigil mass and go to All Saints Day mass on Halloween night. It is usually pretty empty - mostly just older people since all the families are out trick-or-treating. It's nice to have one mass a year where I don't have to deal with noisy children. (I love children, but some people really need to teach their kids how to behave in church.)

I spent the weekend at home as usual. The time-change meant that my husband got to work 9 hours overnight instead of the usual 8. I have to remind myself that his benefits are great whenever I get annoyed with his company.

I really miss the days when Indiana didn't participate in Daylight Savings Time. Thanks a lot Mitch Daniels.

What is currently on your wish list?

A DSLR, a trip to Disney World, a baby...

More practically: a mandoline, an ice cream maker, and a Vera Bradley Hipster in Just Mousing Around.

Share a new iPhone, droid, iPad app that you have recently discovered that we all need.

My newest app is Ibotta. You get paid for buying things you probably already buy at the grocery store. I even just earned 75 cents for our recent trip to Smashburger. It's super easy to use and I love getting free money.

What is a new fall TV show that you have added to your dvr?

We've been enjoying Agents of SHIELD and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland.

Share your social media links so we can follow you. (Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, etc) Tell us which is your favorite and why.

My favorite it probably Pinterest.  I use it a lot and find it very helpful.

What is a TV show, movie, or song that you could watch or listen to over and over and never get tired of?

 TV series - Sherlock
I watch it a lot just for background noise and I always end up getting sucked into it even though I've watched it a million times.

Movie - Right now, Tangled. I've also put this one on several times for background noise and end up just flat out watching it.

No specific song right now, but I do tend to just listen to Kelly Clarkson constantly in the car. I never get tired of her.
