Sunday Social - Childhood

Sunday Social

What do you miss most about being a kid?

Um, everything! Being a kid was awesome because I didn't have all these adult responsibilities.

Did you have a nickname growing up? What was it?

Everybody called me Jenny when I was a kid. My family still does, but they are the only people allowed to do so.

What was your favorite thing to do at recess?

I remember playing tag a lot. In the winter, we loved to climb on the piles of snow around the parking lot from the snow plow. They don't let the kids do that anymore, which is probably smart.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

 A teacher

What was your favorite toy?

I loved to play with my Barbies. I could play with those by myself for hours.

What is the funniest thing you did as a kid that your parents still remind you about?

I can't think of anything...

Farewell Ponds

Tomorrow, two of my favorite people in the world are going away. Where? I have no idea. How? Who knows? All I know is that they're going to be gone and I'll probably never see them again. Just thinking about it depresses me. Did I mention that these two are also fictional characters?

Tomorrow is the last episode of Doctor Who for current companions, Amy & Rory. It makes me sad that we'll have to say good-bye. I've loved these two crazy kids since they appeared on my television screen 2 years ago. I've watched them on all their crazy adventures, I've seen them get married, and I've even seen them both die a few times. (It's complicated.)

But tomorrow, I have no idea what's in store for them. I know it involves the one Doctor Who thing that scares me the most, The Weeping Angels. And frankly, no good can possibly come of that.

So, tomorrow night, I'll sit down for one last adventure with the Ponds. I'll keep my tissues nearby and peek through my fingers every time one of those creepy angels appears. And I'll say farewell to my favorite companions.

Just don't be surprised if you find me in the fetal position later muttering about angels and crying uncontrollably.

Emmys Fashion

Even though my beloved Sherlock didn't win any of the Emmys it was nominated for, I thought I'd do a post about the Emmys. And since I can't resist a pretty dress, I'd like to share the dresses from the red carpet that I liked.

So thanks to one of my favorite Tumblr blogs, OMG that Dress! for the information and picture help.

Zooey Deschanel in Reem Acra
Sarah Hyland in Marchesa

Julianne Moore in Christian Dior Couture
I think I would have liked this more with different sleeves. And a different color, but the style is nice.

Hayden Panettiere in just off the runway Marchesa

I liked this dress when I saw it last week in the Marchesa Spring 2013 show. The whole show is pretty awesome since it's very Bollywood inspired. I like this dress better on Hayden than on the runway model.

Emily VanCamp in J. Mendel
Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier
Who was your favorite on the Emmys Red Carpet?

Sunday Social Sept 23

Sunday Social

What is something you have wanted to do but are afraid of?

This is kind of silly, but I've always wanted to be a figure skater or at the very least, be able to ice skate. My grandpa used to take me when I was young and hold my hands the whole time. I'm so clumsy, I'm afraid if I tried to ice skate now, I'd fall and break something. I've tried to do it as an adult, but it was not fun and I had nothing to hold on to!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Still living in the area, but hopefully in a bigger house, several kids, a dog, and better jobs for me and M!

What are you looking forward to before the end of 2012?

My friend Tricia's baby being born & finding out his name, the holidays, maybe a day trip or two...

What are your hopes for your blog?

That I get better at being consistent and find a niche. To hopefully get some sponsors and actually make some money at this. I'd love to do more reviews and giveaways as well.

Do you always see yourself living in your current town/city?

Well I tried to move away once, but it didn't stick! I'd love to move back to Florida, but right now we want to raise our (future) kids around family and since our parents are all here, we're staying for now.

What is your morning routine

Let's pretend it's a day I have to work, otherwise there is no routine...

6:30ish get up, get on the computer supposedly just to check the weather, but I always end up reading e-mails and blogs too

7:00ish, finally check the weather, brush my teeth, wash my face, stand in my closet debating what to wear until I absolutely must get dressed

Do my hair and make-up, eat if I have time, otherwise eat something in the car on the way.

I leave around 8:00, depending on what school I'm going to and how much time it will take.

Fall Staples

It's finally Fall! And today the weather actually feels like Fall. Sadly, I don't think it's going to last past the weekend. But while the weather is cooler, I'm starting to think about my fall wardrobe. I love dressing for fall weather in the Midwest.

Here's a look at what I consider my essentials for Fall...

Fall Staples

I love to wear sweaters and cardigans layered with colorful camis to work. I already bought that striped sweater while outlet shopping earlier this month. Hoodies are my go-to weekend uniform all autumn long. I'm also itching to break out my boots. This might finally be the year I buy some tall boots. And of course, I have to have my Vera Bradley. This is the first year I've had a different purse to switch to with the season change.

What are your fall wardrobe staples?

Sunday Social Sept 16

Sunday Social

5 items you can't live without on a daily basis(water, food, shelter, and clothes don't count)
  • My phone because it's how I get jobs and the only way to contact my husband/family when we're apart.
  • My planner where I keep track of all my job details and appointments and my husband's schedule.
  • My watch - I go nuts if I don't wear it and it's a necessity when I get stuck with recess duty.
  • The Wii, so I can watch Netflix Instant Watch.
  • My computer - I may have a slight internet addiction!
All time favorite book? Why?

I read a lot of books and enjoy most of them. I could easily give you a list of books that I love so much, I want to read them again and again. But by far, my favorite book is Pride & Prejudice.

And yes, I do love both the classic Colin Firth movie version and the newer Keira Knightly version. I even love the Bollywood version, Bride & Prejudice.

Something you'd like to accomplish before the end of 2012

 Get pregnant

If you could go back and relive any year of your life which year would it be?

I'd go back and relive the year I turned 23. I was living in Florida at the time and I was going through some massive amounts of stress and I wish I could go back and do some thing differently. I also wish I had bought a Florida resident pass to Walt Disney World and spent more time there while I could. I'm still kicking myself for not having fun on my weekends to help with the stress.

What do you wish people knew about you without you having to tell them?

I'm not pregnant yet. I'm so tired of people I know asking me if I am. It gets awkward when they want to question it and I don't really want to get into health issues with people who aren't my doctor or husband. How about you stop asking every time you see me and I'll let you know when I actually am, OK?

It's OK Thursday

I know. I've been a bad blogger lately. I feel bad for abandoning you all, but I guess life just got away from me. To make it up to you, here's an actual post!

Its Ok Thursdays

It's OK...

To take a break from blogging every now and then.

To use blog memes to post when you can't think of an original idea.

To stress over finding the perfect address labels and stamps for baby shower invitations even if nobody will notice them.

To run into Target for just a couple things and spend over an hour in the store.

To buy your husband a generic grocery store cake for his birthday because he loves the frosting.

To relive your childhood and watch Dinosaurs on Netflix Instant Watch every night.

To scour the library's DVD every week trying to find The Muppets and then rejoice when you finally score it.

To fall in love with the new Vera Bradley pattern, Ribbons, even if you only buy things at the Outlet Sale.

To obsess over the Duchess of Cambridge's wardrobe on her tour in Asia.

Sunday Social - Summer Wrap Up

Sunday Social

What was your favorite trip/vacation/activity this summer?

Photobucket

We didn't do much this summer thanks to our budget, so I'll have to go with our anniversary trip to Binder Park Zoo.

Favorite outfit look of the summer/clothing item?

I spend my summers in flip flops. I'm not a big fan or wearing socks and shoes, so I love that I can wear flip flops all summer.
My newest pair thanks to the Vera Bradley Outlet Sale
What is one thing you wish you had gotten to do this summer?

I had been planning a road trip to Columbus to go their zoo for our anniversary, but that didn't work out.

Also, I always wish I could go to Disney World or take a cruise.

Favorite Song of the Summer?

Call Me Maybe

I know, I know, but I really do like it and since I don't listen to the radio much, I haven't gotten sick of it yet.

This Star Trek version is our current favorite.

Favorite movie/TV show of the summer?

We only saw The Dark Knight Rises, so that's the favorite movie.

For TV show, I'm going to go with The Olympics since they were the only reason we switched from Netflix Instant Watch to regular TV all summer.
