Tiny Prints Summer Party Invitations and Giveaway

One of my favorite things about summer is it is such a great time to have events and parties. Some of my favorite summer memories involve cookouts on my dad's deck surrounded by family. My dad would grill tasty burgers, we'd chat and catch up, and then work off all that good food with some cutthroat games of cornhole.

Someday, I hope to own a house with a backyard where we can host similar get-togethers with our families and friends. Until then, I use my Pinterest boards to save recipes for future cookouts, get decor and gardening ideas for that dream backyard, and of course, save inspiration for party invitations.

One of my favorite sources of summer party invitations is Tiny Prints. They have party invitations for any kind of party you could plan. I'm the first to admit, that while I can imagine great things in my head, actually executing them, is another story. My craftiness is all in my head, sadly.

Luckily, with Tiny Prints, I don't have to be crafty because they do all the work for me. Their invitations are cute and colorful and they let me personalize it all with my details. One of my favorite things about Tiny Prints invitations is that they even include a design on the back on many of their invitations.

Here are just a few of my favorite summer party invitations from Tiny Prints -

Prismatic Party Time

Enchanted Fireflies
America's Birthday
Aren't they adorable? And Tiny Prints has lots more to chose from!

Instagram

Are you on Instagram? I am and I love it! It's such a great, fun way to share little bits of my life with others. And I love seeing little bits of other users days as well.

You may have noticed that I've been slowly remaking the blog. And if you take a peek at the right side of the blog, you'll notice I've added a new Instagram app. You can see my last 4 photos published on Instagram. Click on any of them to see them bigger.

I love to use Instagram to participate in Fat Mum Slim's monthly photo challenges. I don't take photos every day, but I keep the day's prompt in mind and try to participate as much as I can.

Here are July's prompts.

I also post my photo a day pictures on Tumblr, if you'd like to follow me over there. I mostly post about my Doctor Who/Sherlock obsessions there in addition to my pictures.

I'm ArgyleLove on Instagram, so feel free to follow me and check out my pictures! If you're on Instagram, leave your user name in the comments and I'll check you out!

Doctor Who's Day

Today's Doctor Who's Day topic is character you like that everyone else hates. This is a topic I really don't have an answer for. There are few characters that "everyone" hates. And my feelings are pretty mutual on characters that are disliked within the fandom. For example, I don't care for Mickey.

This would be an easier question if it was character that you hate that everyone else likes. Then I could talk about how I don't like K-9 or even some of the Doctor's earlier incarnations.

But since I don't have an answer for this topic, I'll share a few things Doctor Who related things I've pinned lately.

This is a great trailer for the upcoming 50th anniversary. I believe it's fan made and not official, but it's very well done and exciting, nonetheless.

This is how pretty much every date with my husband went once we discovered our mutual love of Doctor Who.

Are there any Doctor Who characters you like that everyone else hates?

Pinterest Sunday

Time for my weekly Pinterest roundup! Every Sunday, I share with you a few of my top finds from the previous week.

I love Chick-fil-a's lemonade. I crave it all year long, but I especially long for it on hot summer days. I knew it was a simple recipe of just lemons, water, and sugar, but I was afraid to try it on my own and end up with something gross. Now, I don't have to! This recipe comes straight from Chick-fil-a. I can't wait to pick up some lemons and give it a try.

I love the bight colors of this nursery. It's really making me rethink my future nursery inspiration.

We've never had a headboard for our bed and I think it makes our bedroom look unfinished. I really like this idea of putting a long shelf over the bed instead of a headboard.

Celebrating Our Anniversary at the Zoo

Last week, to celebrate our 2 year anniversary, M and I took a day trip to our favorite zoo, Binder Park Zoo. The weather was nice and we had a great time just walking around, looking at the animals.

I don't think a trip to the zoo really needs explanation or much commentary, so please enjoy these pictures I took.

Doctor Who's Day - Favorite Theme Song

Today's Doctor Who's Day topic is favorite theme song. While the show has had basically the same theme music from the beginning, there are different versions. Every Doctor Who fan knows the music. I can and frequently do sing along when I hear it.

If you read about our wedding, you know that we love the Doctor Who theme so much, we used it as our entrance music for the reception. I was very careful to tell our DJ exactly which version of the song to use. By the time of our wedding, the new series of Doctor Who was already on its third version of the theme song. I was adamant that he use the original 2005 version as it's my favorite. It was the theme of Doctor Who when I first got hooked and as far as I'm concerned, it's my theme. If Doctor Who fans can have their Doctors, why not have their themes as well?

I love this version so much, it's my ring tone on my phone.

The newer versions of the song aren't bad. They are, after all, the same basic tune. However they've been remixed and use different instruments and they just don't sound "right" to me. The current version has too much drumming for my taste, for example. But, I still sing along every time I hear it and I can't wait to hear it again in the fall.

Which version of the Doctor Who theme song is your favorite?

Weekend Wrap Up

I can't believe that June is over halfway over already. It feels like the month just started. How was your weekend? It was yet another quiet weekend at home for us.

Thursday we went to our favorite zoo to celebrate our anniversary. I'll share pictures from that trip later this week.

Friday we stayed home and watched DVDs we borrowed from the library. I love that they have such a great selection and they're free. Between that and Netflix, we have plenty to watch during the boring summer TV nights.

If you follow the Argyle Love Facebook page, you know that on Friday I also won a Vera Bradley contest. I participated in their Father's Day Twitter contest and won a $25 gift certificate. Apparently I've got good Vera Bradley luck because this is the second contest I've won from them. I can't wait to use it to get a new Turn Lock Wallet. I'll be saving it for when the new Vera Bradley Outlet store opens at my outlet mall this fall.

Saturday, we made fajitas for dinner and watched more DVDs. On Sunday, I finally gave into my urge to bake and made cookies. I used the excuse that they are the cats present to M for Father's Day. He didn't complain since it resulted in lots of yummy chocolate chip cookies.

On a related note, if you haven't "liked" the Argyle Love Facebook page yet, you really should. Over the weekend, I shared some links to the Vera Bradley Winter 2012 preview in addition to my contest win news. I frequently share Vera Bradley and other news over there before it ever appears on the blog. You can also see my Instagram pictures (I'm ArgyleLove if you want to follow me.) and my Pinterest boards over there.

How was your weekend?

Pinterest Sunday

Time for my weekly Pinterest roundup! Every Sunday, I share with you a few of my top finds from the previous week.

This would be such a great idea in my bathroom. I usually just put my hair dryer on the floor when I'm not using it, but this would keep it out of the way and the cords neater too.

I'm on a polka dot kick right now and this retro dress is calling to me. I'd love to own it and have an excuse to wear it.

This Ultimate Death by Chocolate Brownie Cake looks amazing. I gave up on layer cakes awhile ago when I discovered I'm not great at frosting things, but I think I might have to give it a try for this cake. Maybe my husband would like it for his birthday?

Freeky Friday: The Best Thing About Summer

It's Freeky Friday again!

Freeky Friday

What's the best thing about summer in your neck of the woods? Any fun local activities or traditions?
The best thing about summer in my area is what I consider both a fun activity and a tradition. It's the county 4-H fair!

Our county fair is the second largest county fair in the country. It's held every year at the end of July for nine days. It's full of 4-H projects, midway rides, grandstand shows, and delicious food. I look forward to it every year and I'm already excited for this year's fair.

My brothers and I were involved in 4-H for many years and our family business always had a booth at the fair while we were growing up. As a result, I pretty much lived at the fair as a child and teen. I know those fairgrounds like the back of hand. I loved being able to explore the fair, have fun fair foods for dinner, and hang out with my friends at the fair.

Unfortunately now, I am usually only able to get to the fair once or twice each year. Sadly, I cannot eat all of my favorite fair foods in one visit, so I have to pick my absolute favorites. I know for sure I'll be getting ice cream from the Dairy Barn and I think there's an elephant ear in my future, as well.

One of the best parts of our fair is the free grandstand shows. Admission to the shows is free with admission to the fair and every year we get some great shows. They are typically country shows and "oldies" artists. Back in the day, I saw Faith Hill in concert when she was only dating Tim McGraw. This year, I'll be seeing Josh Turner!

It's over a month away, but I'm already counting down the days until the best part of summer, our county fair.

What's the best part of summer in your area?
