My Favorite Restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios

Sadly, I've let this series slide, but I'm determined to be a better blogger and continue it.

Today, I want to talk about my favorite restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios. I should mention that it is a quick service restaurant, aka Disney's version of fast food. I think I've mentioned before that M and I didn't spend a lot of time at DHS on our honeymoon. Honestly, this is our least favorite park and the only reason I'd go again is to ride Toy Story Midway Mania.

During our honeymoon visit to DHS, we found ourselves in need of a meal while we wasted time waiting for our FastPass return time for Midway Mania. Originally, I had made a reservation at 50's Prime Time Cafe but canceled it when the budget got hairy.

Prior to our trip, I did some research on the best places to eat in the various parks just to make sure I didn't miss anything good. Most of what I read said that the quick service choices at DHS weren't great, but most seemed to think that one was a particular stand-out. Luckily for us, it just so happened to be right up our alley.

We hit up Toy Story Pizza Planet for lunch and ended up getting individual pepperoni pizzas. They were very tasty and we were both satisfied with our choice.

The other great part about the restaurant is the theme. Once again, Disney goes above and beyond. The restaurant is made to resemble the Pizza Planet restaurant from Toy Story and comes complete with lots of arcade games to keep you occupied while you wait.

The restaurant is a popular choice at DHS, but they have plenty of seating with an upper level and outside tables. We ended up sitting outside where it was a little less crowded and noisy.

Toy Story Pizza Planet is a great choice for a quick service meal at Disney's Hollywood Studios and if we ever visit again, we'll probably be back for some tasty pizza and a quick meal.

What's your favorite Hollywood Studios restaurant?

Week in Review

Oh winter, will you ever end? Or at the very least, let up a little? I think I might have to start a countdown to spring to cope with this weather.

Let's take a look at last week...

Work

Thanks to various factors, I only worked one half day last week. It was a third grade class full of students I already knew thanks to previous years of subbing.

We didn't have school Monday due to Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Wednesday I had an appointment. I was supposed to work Thursday, but Mother Nature decided we needed round 2 of the polar vortex and we didn't have school. We then also did not have school on Friday.

That makes 5 days this month we've not had school due to the weather. And that's not counting today and I'm sure tomorrow since the high is below zero. So it's probably a good thing we started school a week earlier than usual because we're going to have at least a week's worth of days to makeup come June.

Life

Life was pretty quiet last week thanks to that polar vortex. M was on vacation from work, but I was supposed to be working, so we didn't have any plans. We did go get health screenings done on Wednesday for the insurance company. Turns out, I have really good cholesterol numbers, so that was good news.

Home

Other than the visit to the clinic, the only trips I made out into the frozen tundra was to go to the grocery store a couple times. For some reason, being stuck inside is making me want to cook and bake. I baked cookies Saturday night and of course, now I can't stop eating them. This is why I avoid having sweets in the house.

I did take the rack of ribs out of the freezer to thaw and I'll make BBQ sauce tomorrow so I can throw those in the crock-pot for Tuesday. With a high in the negative digits, a nice hot meal is definitely in order.

Sunday Social - Beauty

How old were you when you started wearing makeup?

I don't really remember wearing makeup in high school, so it was probably college. However, even then I didn't wear it regularly.

What are your top 3 favorite beauty products?

 photo BEFoundation.jpeg
 bareMinerals Foundation

 photo VanillaSugar.jpeg
bareMinerals eyeshadow - especially Vanilla Sugar. I use this one a lot for the base when I actually wear eyeshadow.

 photo BuxomMascara.jpeg
Buxom Lash Mascara

What is one makeup product you don't leave home without?

Confession - I actually leave the house with out makeup on frequently. If I'm just running to the store, I don't bother. I love bareMinerals products, but they are not cheap. I can't be wasting that stuff! But I never go to work without my foundation on.

What is your daily beauty routine?

Brush my teeth
Wash my face
Toner
Acne cream (Yes, even as an adult, I must still use it.)
Moisturizer
Makeup if I'm wearing it
Hair

What is your favorite hair/makeup product you've discovered in the last year?

It's not a hair/makeup product, but it's a beauty product

St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

I'm not sure why it took me so long to try this, but I love it! I use it about once a week to exfoliate my skin.

Finish This

I'm trying a new link-up today!

 photo finishthis-small.jpg

A typical day in my life...includes getting up early, teaching some munchkins, scrambling to figure something out for dinner and then staying up way too late wasting time on the Internet.

You'll never see me...eat sushi. Sorry, but my fish has to be cooked.

It’s really unattractive when a guy/girl...is rude to store employees or waitstaff.

If I could buy one thing right now, it would be...a DSLR.  I'm saving up my Amazon credit, but it's going pretty slowly!

I have high expectations for...myself, especially when it comes to work and getting a better job.

Week in Review

I'm trying a new format for this week's Week in Review post. Please bare with me as I get bored with things and have to change things up every now and then.

Work

School was back to normal after our previous snow-filled week. I managed to work 4 out of 5 days. One and half of those days were with the sweetest kindergarten class at my usual school. They are one of my favorite classes this year.

Wednesday was with my usual 3rd and 4th graders which I requested when I was scheduled. It's nice to be able to do that every once in awhile.

Home

I stuck to my goal of doing laundry on the weekends in order to stay caught up and I'm feeling pretty good about sticking to that goal. We also managed to finally take down the Christmas tree. Now, there's a huge empty space in my living room that I swear wasn't there before.

Life

My biggest exited of the week was going shoe shopping on Saturday. I finally got desperate for a new pair of shoes for work. I hit up DSW praying that I could find something that would work for a good price. I ended up finding the perfect pair of shoes on the clearance rack for half off and I had a birthday coupon. I scored a pair of $70 shoes for only $25. Now I just hope they stay comfortable and I actually like wearing them.

Week in Review

What a week! The Polar Vortex hit and suddenly all plans for the week were changed.

Monday was my birthday and any plans I thought I had were thrown out thanks to Mother Nature. We ended up with at least foot of snow and temperatures well under zero. We ended up under a state of emergency and were forced to stay inside all day. And our nephew was down for the weekend and ended up trapped at our house.

However, I still managed to have a pretty good day. We tried out the waffle maker I got for Christmas and had waffles for breakfast. We pretty much just watched TV and movies all day and enjoyed having a snow day. And my husband was super smart and picked up cupcakes before the snow hit.

On Tuesday, the travel restrictions were lifted, so M was able to go to work. We still didn't have school, so I wasn't going anywhere. Our nephew was able to leave in the evening.

Finally on Wednesday, I left the house. I was getting some cabin fever after being forced to stay inside for 3 days. My mom took me out to lunch and we did some shopping. It was the third day of no school and I was beginning to wonder if we'd ever go back.

We did finally go back to school on Thursday. Of course, just to make it interesting, we had a 2-hour delay. But since I was working that day, I didn't mind! I taught a 2nd grade class and I thought they did a great job considering it was their first day back after 2 and half weeks off. The roads still weren't great and even though I left the house early, I still got to work at my usual time. I hate driving in the winter.

Friday, I spent the morning teaching my favorite kindergarten class. I meant to come home and work on taking down the Christmas decorations, but instead I ended up sleeping on the couch when I just couldn't keep my eyes open.

I also meant to take down the Christmas decorations over the weekend, but only took down a few things. I'm not motivated because I don't want Christmas to be over. Instead, I did important things like watch the last episode of Sherlock series 3 (OH MY GOD! So, so, so good!) and watch the Golden Globes. I also managed to do a load of laundry, so go me.

Sunday Social - My Blog

Sunday Social

What is the name of your blog? How long have you been blogging?

My blog is Argyle Love and I've been blogging for a little over 3 years.

Why do you blog?

I blog because I like to share with others and I like the creative outlet it provides. I like to connect with people from around the world.

What is the first blog you ever followed?

Oh wow, I've been reading blogs for a long time. I think the first blog that really made me want to follow blogs was ljcfyi. She's been blogging since 2000 and I've probably been reading her blog that long.

What is your favorite post you wrote in 2013?

Tips for the 2013 Vera Bradley Outlet Sale

It was my most read post of 2013. I don't blog about Vera Bradley very often, but whenever I do, those posts get tons of hits. I'm a huge Vera Bradley fan, so I like sharing info with other fans and I love to be able to share my experiences at the Outlet Sales with those that can't go. I feel very lucky that I live close enough to be able to go every year.

What are your blogging goals for 2014?
  • Be more consistent in posting
  • Get more followers
  • Comment more on other blogs
  • Get more sponsored posts/giveaway opportunities
  • Make some money from the blog

Happy Birthday to Me

It's my birthday today!

Sadly, all of my plans have gone out the window since we are under a state of emergency thanks to all the snow we got yesterday and the negative temperatures we have today.

This is maybe about half the total amount of snow we got. And then it turned into a blizzard and blew around a lot.
Luckily, I saw the forecasted snow on Saturday and decided we better do my birthday movie a few days early.

Of course, I chose to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. It was very good and I really don't want to wait another year to see the conclusion. I did cheat and come home and skim through my copy of The Hobbit to remind myself what happens next.

M was very smart and went to our baker on Saturday to pick up cupcakes. They are closed today along with most businesses in town.

I may be stuck inside, but at least I have leftover pizza, cupcakes, and ice cream.

Now if only my presents could arrive!

Sunday Social - New Year

Sunday Social

Do you plan to change any of your eating habits in the new year?

I really want to cut back on the sweets and pop and eat more fruits and vegetables and drink more water. It's always hard to do this at the beginning of the year since there's leftover Christmas sweets and then birthday cake, but I'm trying hard.

Any workout tips to get us back in shape after the Holidays?

I am the worst person to ask for workout tips. I'm the girl that thinks she's going to start working out, does it a couple times and then finds an excuse to stop. My goal is to get back into doing any physical activity and then stick with it by motivating myself with the end result and smaller goals along the way. I like doing Just Dance on the Wii and the 30 Day Shred. (Well, I don't really enjoy the 30 Day Shred, but I do it once in awhile.)

Favorite thing you did over the Holidays?

Just spending time with family and resting up on my two weeks off. I'm finally feeling healthy again after those terrible illnesses I had over break. Just in time to go back and get something else from the munchkins!

What is something you hope that you accomplish in 2014 that you did not in 2013?

Get pregnant. This is my year, I can feel it!

Name 3 things happening this year you are excited about and why

I've got nothing. This year is just beginning...I have no idea what will happen, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Goals for 2014

With a new year, it's time to start some new goals. Hopefully, working on these goals will help improve life and they can become new habits.

Get a new job

This goal will probably not happen until the summer at the earliest, but it is something I can begin working on now. The ultimate goal is to get a full-time teaching position at either a local public school district or Catholic school. However, I would also be happy with either a paraprofessional position or a maternity leave position if a full-time job was not possible. Basically, I don't want to be subbing for another school year.

Along with this goal, if I am not in a full-time position next school year, then I think I would like to volunteer to help out with the religious education at our church. They are usually looking for volunteers and it will look good on my Catholic school applications.

Save money

We really need to be better about our budget. We aren't doing terribly, but we could definitely be doing better. I hope to be better about using coupons and sticking to the grocery budget. I already started making a price book to track sales and prices, so I can use that to help me know when to stock up and when to wait for better sales. I need to make sure I keep better track of our grocery spending every week.

Another part of this goal will be to eat out less, shop less, waste less food, and reduce any bills we can. Giving up my weekly trips to Target probably won't happen, but I need to be better about only buying things we actually need especially when it comes to clearance items. I need to remember that we're trying to save for either a Disney cruise or a trip to Disney World.

Keep the house clean and organized

I need to set up a cleaning schedule in order to help us keep things cleaned. I'm terrible about doing laundry regularly. I'm attempting to get all my laundry caught up this week and then will do it weekly. We also need to declutter. There are still unpacked boxes from when we moved into this house 3 years ago!

Be a better blogger

I need to set up a blogging schedule and be better about scheduling posts. It needs to become a habit for me to sit down and write every day.

What are your goals for 2014?
