Wedding Wednesday: The Guys are Ready

After we finished the bridal pictures, it was time to hurry to the church! Just as the girls and I arrived at the church, M called to say that he was almost there. I was still in the parking lot, so I instructed him to go around the block and give us time to get inside and hidden away.

Some members of our families were already at the church, so I greeted them and let them check out the dress before heading to the church basement and hiding in the Bride's Room. I stayed here with my girls until it was time to walk down the aisle. While down here, I sent the girls on errands upstairs to make sure things were set up right and they gave messages to various members of our families.

While I was downstairs, the guys arrived and our photographers used this time to take some pictures.

The socks!  My photographer often takes socks/shoe pictures at her wedding and I knew she's be excited that our guys were wearing fun socks. I actually had one of the girls run upstairs to tell her just to be sure she got pictures. When she was done taking pictures of the guys, she came down to me and showed me this picture.

Our pretty church, one of the oldest in our city. It looks overcast in this picture, but it was quite sunny and very hot that day!

The gorgeous inside of our church. The guests are arriving and soon it will be time for me to head upstairs!

Pinterest Sunday

Time for my weekly Pinterest roundup! Every Sunday, I share with you a few of my favorite finds from the previous week.

First up, how gorgeous is this nursery?

Love the dark floor with the light furniture. And that crib! I must find it, it's so unique and pretty. (But probably super expensive!)

Next, are some awesome nails that I think I could actually do!

This looks pretty simple to do once I read the directions. I think I even have the perfect glitter polish to use.

Finally, how about a cute dress?

I found this while reading one of my guilty pleasures, The Daily Mail, which is a British paper. They had an interesting article on clothes that the Duchess of Cambridge might like and I love this dress!

Long as God can grow

My hair!

I've mentioned before that I grew my hair out prior to my wedding. Well, now that you've seen what my hair looked like on my wedding day, I thought I'd show you the journey it took to get it there.

As a kid, I grew my hair pretty long. When I was in the eight grade, it was to the middle of my back and I cut off 8 inches. Ever since then, my hair has been getting shorter and shorter until one unfortunate haircut when it got too short and I had boy hair for awhile.

That was 2004 and ever since then, I've been trying to grow my hair out. Before I got engaged however, I would reach a point where I was sick of my hair and I would cut it short again. It never really got longer than shoulder length and I would cut it back to chin length.

Being engaged and planning the wedding gave me a reason to not cut my hair off and for once, I didn't get sick of it! In fact, I was a little disappointed that my hair wasn't longer on my wedding day.

After the wedding, I thought about doing the post wedding chop, but I decided that since I had put so much work and patience into growing my hair, I wanted to donate it so somebody else could benefit. But hair wasn't long enough, so I kept growing it.

Now, a year after the wedding, my hair still isn't long enough. Right now, it's at about 7 inches and I need at least 8 inches to donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths. So the current plan is to keep growing my hair until my birthday in January (*cough30cough*) and then cut it off! It will surely be plenty long enough then!

I really want to cut it off now, but having a goal to work to is keeping me from doing it and I know I'll be proud of myself when I see the ponytail I'm going to donate.

So, let's look at the journey...

Sorry, no current pictures...I'll hopefully have some after our anniversary trip next week. Looking at these pictures helps me see how much my hair has grown. My hair seems to grow slowly so, I never feel like my hair has grown until I compare it to old pictures. Even now, I don't feel like my hair is much longer than it was a year ago, but the pictures proves otherwise. I think I am now at the point where I was all those years ago before I chopped it off in the eight grade.

What's the longest your hair has been?

Wedding Wednesday: Bridal Pictures

Now that the girls and I were ready, it was time to take some bridal pictures. I am so glad that we did this as these are some of my favorite pictures of myself. I usually hate pictures of me, but Amanda is amazing and I love these!

I absolutely love these pictures of me on my mom's porch. I grew up in this house and remember taking first day of school pictures on these steps. It was really special to be able to take pictures before my wedding here.

Also, it was hilarious to give the people across the street something to talk about. My mom is always telling me about things they do in their yard and I'm sure they watch us since they sit on their porch a lot. While we were taking these photos, the man came out and looked at us and turned right back around. I'm sure he went in to tell his wife about the crazy people across the street!
